The Avon Maitland School Board has reported a higher than expected number of students currently enrolled this year.
The board says the difference of more than 160 students is a positive one heading into the school year.
Schools in the region report that increase is concentrated mostly in JK and SK along with junior and intermediate grades.
The board says that means more potential jobs for teachers.
