The Rotary Club is gearing up for its annual Dragon Boat Race this weekend on the Avon.
One of the event’s organizers Fritz Steigmeir says the event is a big undertaking and it’s thanks to countless volunteers that make it a success every year.
Aside from the crowds drawn to the Avon, Steigmeir says the event has an economic impact on a local level as well.
He says there are 45 teams of more than 20 people competing in each boat, featuring teams both from the Stratford area and abroad.
The races are set to begin around 8:30am on Saturday and run all day into the afternoon.
