City Talks Budget in First Public Meeting

The City of Stratford’s Finance and Labour Relations Committee has presented its preliminary report on the 2018 municipal budget.

CAO Rob Horne says the aim to keep the budget within a two per cent tax levy increase.

Head of Corporate Services Andre Morin says there’s still quite a bit of work to be done at that number currently sits around 2.44 per cent having heard back from most departments.

Morin says it’s a good starting point for staff as a one per cent tax increase is equivalent to $550,000.

Infrastructure and long-term debt were the committee’s two major points of discussion in last night’s open house.
