Daer, Janet

Janet Daer at Maitland Manor Nursing Home, Goderich, passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.  Finally she is at peace and no more pain.  Janet is predeceased by her husband Alvin Daer (2001) and her parents Arnold and  Norah Hugill and her in-laws Roy and Martha Daer and brothers-in-law Gordon Daer and Brian Wallace.  Surviving are her children; Andrea (Kevin) Buurs of Mitchell, Larry (Mireille) Daer of London, Mike Daer of Goderich and Nick (Jackie) Daer of Goderich.  Grandchildren; Paul Buurs and special friend Heather, David Buurs, Tom Buurs and his Fiancé Amanda DeLarge, Genevieve Daer and Chris Corrigan, Jordan Daer and Maggie Alberts, Cody Austin and Mercedes Daer.  Great granddaughter Saige DeLarge.  Also survived by her sister Vivienne (Peter) Roy, brother Randy (Vicki) Hugill and sisters-in-law; Ruth (Don) Dewar, Shirley Rolston, Marilyn Wallace and also by many nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.  Janet was a crossing guard for many years and cleaned two motels, she babysat when living on Albert Street and worked at Becker’s.  Janet also was a bookkeeper for Alvin’s TV and Daer Renovations.  She enjoyed talking to her family and friends and always wondered how everyone was and how they were doing.  She liked playing bingo with her bingo friends, knitting and jokes.

Friends will be received at McCallum & Palla Funeral Home, 11 Cambria Road North, Goderich, on Friday May 2, 2014 from 6-9 PM.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday May 3, 2014 at 11 AM.  Interment Maitland Cemetery.  Donations to the Parkinson’s Society or the Maitland Manor Resident’s Council gratefully acknowledged.  Friends may sign the book of condolences at www.mccallumpalla.ca
