Federal Opposition Leader Andrew Scheer Visits Stratford

Federal Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer paid a visit to Stratford as part of a tour through southwestern Ontario to speak with supporters and communities.

Scheer says NAFTA negotiations are causing growing concerns, especially in the field of agriculture which makes up a large component of the region’s economy.

He says the automotive content demands from the U-S are of particular concern as well.

Scheer says it’s not just to the in area following the Ingersoll CAMI worker strike, but across the country.

Scheer says NAFTA negotiations could also impact small businesses, with the recent federal tax changes providing some relief, but not enough.

He says Ottawa has also had trouble getting federal funding out for infrastructure and other projects, referring to the expected funding announcement for the proposed Tom Patterson Theatre redevelopment in Stratford.

The Opposition Leader made a stop in Hamilton yesterday as well and will be in Kitchener-Waterloo tomorrow.

Perth-Wellington MP John Nater hosted the event at the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans Banquet Hall.
