Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says the federal government’s fall economic update doesn’t address curbing spending or the national debt.
Nater says while the announcement of increases to the child benefit and working income benefit will help middle-class workers, it’s likely to be offset elsewhere come next year.
He says the right economic conditions to support long-term employment should be a priority.
Nater says there’s also a serious problem with getting public infrastructure dollars out to communities that need it.
Nater is currently preparing a report for the finance minister to address skills training in Perth-Wellington, as he’s pushed for more programs of that type since being elected.
He says we could see more from the ministry in the future on it.
