Middlesex County Makes Commitment to Improving Broadband Services

Middlesex County has made a $784,000 commitment towards expanding broadband internet services to rural residents.

Middlesex’s deal makes it the final county to join the 14 other members of the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus for the investment.

Perth County announced a similar commitment last month as South Western Integrated Fibre Technology has been making a push to expand services in the region.

Around $180 million has also been invested by the provincial and federal governments on top of $17 million in municipal contributions.

SWIFT is expected to release a timeline for building the digital infrastructure once its funding phase is complete.
