Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says Ottawa’s recent announcement of deferring more than $2 billion in infrastructure funding to future years will delay local road and bridge projects even further.
Nater says some communities have already waited two years to apply for the money set aside by the federal government.
He says nearly every municipality in the riding has one or two critical infrastructure projects which could be further delayed.
The two level application process along with cumbersome processes in the federal treasury are the likely culprits behind the recent announcement according to Nater.
