Fire Departments Raising Awareness over Carbon Monoxide Safety

It’s Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week in Ontario and local fire departments are stepping up education, making sure you have a working smoke and CO alarm.

St. Marys Fire Chief Richard Anderson says it may be surprising more than half of cases where people were hurt or died in Ontario happened due to carbon monoxide.

He says it’s the law to have a working CO alarm near any bedroom or sleeping area in home or garage, especially if you have any appliances which burn fuel such as a fireplace.

You can always call your local fire department for more information, to schedule a home or apartment inspection or to pick up a CO or smoke alarm.
