The Stratford Perth Community Foundation has been working to paint the picture of philanthropy in Perth County and its impact.
The University of Waterloo was assigned to capture the snapshot of demographics and contributions.
It also involved the local humane society, the Stratford Festival, the YMCA and the Stratford General Hospital Foundation.
The study shows most donate to causes right in their backyard, on a local level where they can see results first-hand.
It also says most prefer to communicate through emails and social media, rather than other more costly means.
The foundation says the results will be posted to its new my-Perth-Huron website.
