OPP Warning November Traditionally Sees Spike in Collisions with Deer on Roads

The Huron County OPP is putting out a warning to drivers to be careful of deer wandering onto our roads through the month of November.

It’s usually when police see the biggest spike in wildlife collisions in the region, many on major traffic arteries.

The OPP says there were 64 crashes involving deer last November in Huron County alone.

Police say Highway 8 near Front and Pondsview roads along with near Holmes Street, County Road 12 near Cranbrook and Highway 21 are among the most reported areas with deer.

The OPP says don’t veer for deer, check your speed and watch the shoulders of the road especially at dusk and at dawn.
