Pettapiece says Province Needs to Re-evaluate the Way it Looks at Long Term Care Needs

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece is raising questions in Queen’s Park over how the province handles its long-term care logistics.

It comes on the heels of Minister of Health and Long-Term Care Doctor Eric Hoskins’ announcement he will deny the transfer of long-term care beds out of Perth County.

Pettapiece says the government needs to examine how it calculates bed ratios in rural communities which face similar losses of beds.

He says looking at factors like travel distance, local hospital costs, municipal costs and economic impact should all be part of what the ministry considers.
