Man Accused of Extortion Makes First Court Appearance

A Stratford man facing extortion charges has made his first appearance in a Perth County courtroom.

Stratford Police say an 18-month long investigation revealed a man used fake social media accounts to lure more than a dozen women into sending naked photos.

The women were promised money in exchange for the photos, but were never paid.  The suspect then threatened to post the pictures to Facebook for the victim’s family and friends to see.

Twenty-two-year-old Josh Alexander faces 35 criminal charges, including criminal harassment and extortion.

Alexander made his first appearance on Monday and is set to be back in court on January 29th.
