HPHA Hospitals Operating Above Capacity

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says its hospitals are currently operating over 100 per cent capacity.

Its CEO and President Andrew Williams says the Stratford General at one point had 11 people waiting on inpatient beds.

HPHA hospitals are currently operating at 117 per cent capacity.

The alliance says it’s postponing elective surgeries and reassigning staff in order to cope with the influx of patients.

Williams says one of the primary concerns when operating over capacity is that controlling the spread of infections becomes harder.

Hospitals say you can contact local doctors or telehealth if your condition isn’t serious.
