The legendary rocker Ronnie Hawkins is now an officer in the Order of Canada.
He was inducted yesterday by Governor General David Johnston in Ottawa.
Born in Arkansas, Hawkins moved to Ontario in the fifties and eventually brought together the musicians who would go on to form The Band.
That included Richard Manuel from Stratford.
