Huron County Health Unit Sees Spike in Flu Cases

The Huron County Health Unit says flu-cases have spiked over the last week.

It comes after a number of outbreaks in in long-term care facilities and a number of local schools have reported higher-than normal absences.

The health unit is raising concerns over seniors being more vulnerable to the virus, which has caused sudden cases of fever, dry coughs, headaches, extreme sore throats and fatigue.

Free flu shots are still available from healthcare providers and local pharmacies.

The health unit is asking you to wash your hands thoroughly, sneeze or cough into your arm and keep areas such as keyboards, remotes and doorknobs sanitized.
