Huron County Council Set to Pass Budget in March

Huron County council is expected to approve its 2018 budget next month with a tax levy increase of three per cent.

Council has been looking carefully at projected infrastructure spending, even as far ahead as 20 years, primarily for a number of the region’s bridges.

Public Works has been working to make sure its budget prepares for those costs proactively.

Cuts to the provinces Municipal Partnership Fund continue to impact county and municipal budgets.

The OMFP is what the Ontario government primarily uses to provide unconditional transfer funding to municipalities.

County council is set to further discuss and approve its upcoming budget in its March 7th meeting.
