Stratford City Council has voted in favour of a two side walk option for the reconstruction of Ballantyne Street.
It comes following months of deliberations by council along with back and forth with the residents impacted by the project.
Council discussed emergency vehicle clearance, safety concerns with a one side walk option, snow removal and accessibility.
Residents of Ballantyne have been pushing to keep their sidewalks.
Despite a staff recommendation to choose the third of three options which kept more trees and addressed some safety concerns, council chose option two.
The sewer and water line replacement was originally slated to begin last spring.
