Perth County to Apply for Regional Transit Funding

Perth County Council is moving ahead with apply for the province’s Community Transportation Grant Program.

It means the county and some member municipalities will be making a pitch and coming up with one of two options.

Those options are either to create two routes, one through the north part of Perth County and one through the south; while the other would see the creation of an intercommunity route.

Council was quick to point out that reliable transportation could help employers fill positions throughout the region.

Many manufacturers already have company-run bus routes to bring workers into communities.

County CAO Renato Pullia says helping seniors, employers, low-income and isolated residents have been flagged as priorities in the proposal.
