OPP Forced to Deploy Spike Strip to Stop Dangerous Driver in Clinton

It took a spike belt to stop a dangerous driver in Clinton this weekend.

Police noticed a car was driving more than double the speed limit through Perth County and didn’t stop for officers who tried to pull it over.

The OPP says miraculously no one was hurt, including the suspect driving the vehicle.

Officers were able to drop the spike belt in Clinton, finally bringing the chase to an end on Saturday night along a section of Highway 8.

A 52-year-old Woolwich man is facing charges drug possession, resisting arrest, mischief, flight from police and dangerous vehicle operation.

The suspect is staying in custody pending a court date; it’s not clear whether or not it will be in a Perth or a Huron County courtroom.
