Multi City Bus Service could Become Reality

We could be seeing bus service running between Stratford,  St.Marys and Listowel if two joint bids with area municipalities get provincial funding.

Two joint applications were submitted just before the submission period closed last Wednesday.

Stratford city council officially joined the partnership as the lead applicant for a transportation proposal.   Stratford CAO Rob Horne said “Grants range from a half-a-million dollars to a million and a half dollars.

All of the CAOs of Perth County, St. Marys have gotten together and have developed a submission “that would tie together communities like Stratford with Gads Hill, Brunner, Milverton, Newton, Milbank, Listowel, Atwood, Monkton, Mitchell, Sebringville, St. Marys.

According to Horne, the intention of the CAO working group is to have this system synced up with other transit systems, such as London Transit, Grand River Transit, Go Bus and Rail, Grey Hound and Via Rail.
