Nurse pleads guilty to stealing drugs

A Tavistock woman has admitted to taking drugs from the nursing home where she worked.

According to the Woodstock Sentinel-Review Melissa Kaufman pleaded guilty today to possessing and stealing Fentanyl patches.

The 26-year-old was working as a nurse at The Maples Home for Seniors when the allegations emerged earlier this year.

Fentanyl is a potent painkiller and is up to 100 times more powerful than morphine.

It’s used by some for recreational purposes.

Sentencing for Kaufman will take place on August 26th.
