Home sales down in area in March compared to last year

While home sales may be down in our area compared to this time last year, the alarm isn’t going off just yet.

While 2017 saw record home sales in Perth and Huron Counties, this year 137 units were sold in the area in March and 319 over the first quarter which is down around 33 and 38 per cent respectively.

A release from the Huron Perth Association of Realtors also finds that home sales were down around 25 per cent less for the past month than in March 2017.

Heather Ward, President of the HPAR, says despite the fall back in numbers that when looking at past history the sales in March were “pretty normal for that month” and a “big improvement” over what we saw in February.

In Stratford, a detached house is currently selling at an average of over $412,000.00 while a town house is going for an average of over $342,000.00.
