It’s an annual part of Spring in Stratford and its taking place this weekend.
The 31st Annual Optimist Club of Stratford Trout Derby is set for Saturday and will see two groups take part, one sixteen years old and younger and the other sixty-five years old and older, it’s free to take part in with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at the bandshell and the area the fishing takes place from the Waterloo Street Bridge to the Thomas Orr Dam.
Brian Pearson with the Stratford Optimist Club says it’s great to see people enjoy the event.
“There’s not a lot opportunity in Stratford so this is kind of like the first rite of Spring, get them out early and let them enjoy some fishing.”
