Stratford man charged with extorting women for sexual purposes due back in court

A 22-year-old Stratford man charged with over thirty counts of extorting women for sexual purposes is set to be back in court.

Josh Alexander was first charged in December after an 18 month investigation by Stratford Police revealed a man had used fake social media accounts to convince women to send him nude photos in exchange for money.

They say he would then extort money from his victims by threatening to post the photos on other social media sites where friends and family would see them.

In March, more charges were laid against Alexander including one count of possession of child pornography.

Alexander is scheduled to be in a courtroom at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday where he will make a plea and then be possibly sentenced.

The names of the victims in the case are protected under a publication ban.
