Funding on the way from Ontario to restore Inter-Regional Transit Service in Stratford area

Funding is on the way from the province to help restore Inter-Regional Transit Service in our area.

The City of Stratford announced Tuesday that they are the sponsor recipient of a five year $1.45 million grant through Ontario’s Community Transportation Grant Program.

Stratford, along with Perth County and its municipalities, and the town of St. Marys plan to provide regular transit service between London, St.Marys, Stratford and Kitchener.

They say service between Listowel and Kitchener is also planned and detailed route planning and fares remain to be finalized with a bus carrier to be selected through a competitive process.

Routes will also be planned to coordinate with other transit systems, including GO train service from Kitchener to Toronto.

A press release also says Perth County, with Stratford and the same municipal partners, also lead a successful bid for new service within the Stratford-Perth-St.Marys areas in a separate funding approval with details to be announced as they are refined.
