Woodstock school locked down for almost an hour after police called about man with weapon in parking lot

A scary incident saw a Woodstock school locked down for close to an hour.

Woodstock Police say just before noon Wednesday they were called to the parking lot at Huron Park Secondary School about a male carrying a weapon.

They say the school was put into lock down for 45 minutes and officers found the male suspect immediately once on scene and they located the weapon.

The school has since reopened.

Police say there is no threat to public safety and their investigation into what happened continues.
