Police investigating after body discovered north of Vanastra

A body has been found near a road just north of Vanastra and police are calling it suspicious.

Huron County OPP say the body was found around 11:15 Thursday morning by a person in the area of Front Road between Fifth Avenue in Vanastra to Highway Eight.

They say members of the Huron County OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Service and West Region Emergency Response Team are currently assisting with the investigation.

Huron County OPP Constable Jamie Stanley says the cause of death is being treated as suspicious and they are hoping someone saw that something that can help with the investigation.

“If anyone in that area might have seen anybody in distress in that area certainly we’d appreciate any information that’s out of the ordinary in and around Front Road.”

Stanley adds further updates will be provided as they become available and that section of road is closed while the investigation goes on.
