Stratford area sees decline in employment rate in April

It looks like we are on a downward trend when it comes to employment in our area.

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says numbers out Friday show the unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage points to 4.4% in April, a result of 1,700 people leaving the labour market in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region.

They say employment declined by 600 in the area in April, due to losses in both full-time and part-time work.

At the same time, the provincial unemployment rate in April was unchanged at 5.7%.
