Nearly 100 Perth County students face suspension over immunization records

Almost one-hundred students are facing suspension from Stratford area schools over immunization records.

The Perth District Health Unit says back on May 8th they mailed out 147 suspension orders to Perth County students whose immunization records are not up to date, the suspension orders take effect on Tuesday May 29th for outstanding students.

Since then, the PDHU says the number of students has been reduced to 97 with parents or guardians having until May 28th to submit the required records or a valid exemption and the suspension order being lifted.

Perth District Health Unit Lorna Askes says the number of students this year is up from last but there are several variables for why that is.

“The number of students that are registered, even something as simple as that can make a big difference, if you have a higher cohort of students that are registered in junior kindergarten then those are the records perhaps that we’re missing.”
