Woman airlifted to hospital after crash in Mitchell

An 81-year-old woman has life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital after a crash in Mitchell.

Perth County OPP say they were called to a collision at the corner of Montreal Street and St. David’s Street just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

They say their early investigation has revealed that a sedan was travelling eastbound on Montreal Street when it collided with a large van travelling southbound on St. David’s Street.

According to police, the vehicles collided at the intersection with the sedan coming to a stop near an adjacent home.

The driver of the sedan was airlifted to a trauma centre in London for treatment while the van had 4 people in it, two of whom were brought to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
