Randy Pettapiece lists priorities in open letter to Premier-designate Doug Ford

Randy Pettapiece says his top priority is the people of Perth-Wellington, no matter where they live or how they voted.

Pettapiece, who was re-elected in last Thursday’s Ontario election in the Perth-Wellington riding, sent an open letter to Premier-designate and fellow PC party member Doug Ford on Friday congratulating him on the win and laying out his priorities.

Among the priorities Pettapiece lists in the letter is the Rea and Walter Act, a private member’s bill he brought forward in April 2017 but that died when the legislature dissolved for the election.

It’s named after two North Perth firefighters who died battling a blaze in March 2011 and Pettapiece says it will close a major gap in firefighter safety by letting them know which buildings contain truss-and-lightweight construction materials.

Other priorities Pettapiece lists include local long-term care beds, relief from the rising cost of living and transportation challenges.
