A man who was known to just about everyone in Stratford has passed away.
Tom Orr, who was a member of the Board of Governors for The Stratford Festival for 20 years, has passed away at 80 after a battle with cancer.
Orr served two terms as vice-chair of the Stratford Festival and and another two as chair.
He was actively involved in the renovations to the Festival Theatre in 1997, the Avon Theatre in 2002 and the construction of the their fourth performance space, the Studio Theatre, as well as the Warehouse and the Festival Archives.
In 2000, he received the Chamber of Commerce Millenium Award for his family’s outstanding service in the community for over 100 years.
That’s just one of the many accolades presented to Orr during his lifetime.
