Police release name of person killed in collision involving train in Ingersoll

Police have now released the name of the person killed in a collision involving a pedestrian and a train in Ingersoll.

Emergency crews were called to the McKeand Street area around 7:45 Friday night about a collision involving a pedestrian and a Via passenger train.

They say the train was travelling westbound on CN Railway tracks at the time of the collision.

The lone pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries suffered in the incident and they have now been identified as 18-year-old Brittany Bergsma from Ingersoll.

Police say foul play is not suspected and the investigation has been turned over to CN Police.

A Go Fund Me campaign set up for Bergsma says she was diagnosed at a young age with low functioning Autism.

The organizers of the campaign say all money raised will go to the girl’s mother for funeral expenses, time off work and other expenses.
