Police reminding students to keep safety in mind at end of school parties

With the end of the school year drawing close we can expect to see lots of parties and graduation celebrations.

Perth County OPP are reminding all students to keep safety in mind during these gatherings which can sometimes include alcohol and drugs and can create situations where students can expose themselves to unnecessary risks, both legal and health related.

They also say that unsupervised parties, including field or bush parties, are unsafe environments for anyone.

Perth County OPP Constable Laura Lee Brown says property owners need to be aware of their civil liability for anyone that gets injured on their property.

“Depending on what’s lead up to that and what has happened actually at that property, the property owners can be civilly liable for that, and it’s really important for people to understand that.”

You can go to www.madd.ca to find out more information on how to host a safe graduation party.
