OPP reminding boaters of importance of life jackets

The Huron County OPP is reminding boaters to wear a life jacket.

Last year the OPP investigated 23 deaths related to marine incidents.

Of those 20 of them were not wearing personal floatation devices.

The OPP is also reminding boaters that the harsh winter has made for a cold start to the season.

Cold water adds another layer of danger to boating.

The OPP says dressing for the weather and wearing a life jacket can make an unexpected mishap survivable.
