A big name company could end up moving into Stratford’s former Grand Trunk locomotive repair shops.
In a press release sent out Tuesday morning, the city says the Canadian Opera Company has inquired about leasing space in the location.
The city says the Toronto-based company is seeking creative solutions to fabricating and storing production sets and costumes when they are not being used for shows at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
According to the city, it would be a mutually-beneficial partnership by bolstering Stratford’s already strong arts-and-culture reputation while advancing the council approved master plan to redevelop the property.
Discussions between the two sides are expected to continue over the summer.
