Police reminding you about water safety after series of fatal incidents locally

After two people in our area died after being found unconscious in bodies of water, police are reminding you about water safety.

A 13-year-old West Perth girl died in hospital on Monday after her body was found unconscious in a lake at a campground in Perth County, that same day a 57-year-old Kitchener man died in hospital after he was found unconscious in the water at a campground in East Zorra-Tavistock Township.

Police say that the incidents remind us that we need to keep water safety front of mind and also let someone know where we are headed when we go out onto the water.

Perth County OPP Constable Laura Brown says water safety is vital.

The girl from West Perth has been identified as Ebony Kay while the Kitchener man has been identified as Andre Bourgeois.
