Pettapiece settling into new role in legislature

Randy Pettapiece is settling into his new role in the legislature.

After being reelected as MPP for the Perth-Wellington riding in the Ontario election last month, last week he was appointed parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs who is Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman.

In the role, Pettapiece will be working on issues including any fall out or concerns over NAFTA negotiations between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

He says Premier Doug Ford has an important interest in the issue.

“The premier has said he is going to get very involved in this and start visiting the United States and certainly agriculture is a very important part of NAFTA and going forward I’m sure Ernie will have me advising the premier on those things.”

As far as other local issues, Pettapiece says he will continue to look into the state of nursing homes in the riding.
