Ruth Elizabeth Hahn (nee Merklinger) died at her home on May 27 2014 at age 100 years 7 months.
Ruth was born November 1 1913 in Kitchener and married July 7 1945 in Waterloo .She was predeceased by her husband Carl Hahn in 2006. Ruth was the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth Merklinger and one of six children. She was a kind and devoted sister. Ruth was the cherished mother of two sons James (Joan) of St. Marys and Marcus (Andria) of London.. Five grandchildren and their families shared her love. Aynslie Hahn, Jonathan Hahn( Cassandra), Andrew Hahn (Kate), Emily Hahn ( Jeremy Trnka ), and Adam Hahn ( Adrienne ). Ruth was also blessed with five great grandchildren Max and Ella Hahn, Brooke and Jacob Hahn, and Alexander Trnka. Sister-in-law Helen (Len) Rau. Ruth was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Herbst (George), Ada Sinyard (Ray), brothers Louis Merklinger (Clara), Rev. Dr Harold Merklinger (Norma), and Ross Merklinger (Esther) and and brother-in-law Art (Norma) Hahn.
Ruth was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Stratford, retired member of Lutheran Missionary League, honorary member of Ladies Aid, and long time member of the McConnell Club of St Marys.
The family wishes to acknowledge our gratitude for the exceptional care Mother received from Dr.Charles Gatfield and the health care team at Kingsway Lodge in St. Marys.
Visitation will be at Andrew Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. St Marys (519-284-2820), on Friday May 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be Saturday May 31st at 11am, at ST. PETER’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 115 Cambria St. Stratford, visitation one hour before service.
