Stratford Police’s Acting Deputy Chief to retire after thirty years

As of September, a familiar long time face with the Stratford Police will be gone.

After 30 years with the force, Acting Deputy Chief Sam Theocharis is set to retire come the end of August.

Theocharis first joined the department in July 1988 and he has risen through the ranks over the years to where he is today including roles both locally and provincially.

He says when he first joined the force it was a real eye opener after growing up in the city.

“I never was really out past 2 o’clock but I tell you my first night shift on the job I was amazed to see what went on after the bars close.”

As for his replacement, the departments three inspectors will divide the duties until the position is filled permanently.
