J. Stewart Smith, 85, of Nepean passed away in Ottawa on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
Husband of Marie Smith. Brother of Jean Sangster and Ron of Stratford. Brother-in-law of Eleanor Murdie and Richard of Point Clark, Diane Osborn of Mitchell and Diane Osborn of Listowel.
Predeceased by brothers Ernest R. Smith, Morris Smith and Marion, Jack Smith and Ruby, brothers-in-law Hugh and Ross Osborn, sister-in-law Grace Cole and Jack, nephews Elton and Larry Smith and great nephew Perry Osborn.
Stewart was born in Monkton on September 29, 1928. He attended S.S.#6 Public School in Logan Township and Mitchell District High School. He lived and worked in Toronto from 1945 until 1950 and later owned and operated an auto body repair shop in Monkton from 1951 until 1962. He was a graduate of the Ontario College of Education, University of Toronto and earned a Degree from Carleton University in Ottawa. He taught automotive apprenticeship courses in Ottawa for 28 years. Stewart was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton and the Elma Lodge #456 AF & AM.
