The long weekend is almost here and with it lots of traffic on area roads and highways.

Ontario Provincial Police are carrying out a traffic blitz over the long weekend targeting things like driver’s who don’t slow down or move over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks.

Police say around 1000 charges have been laid so far this year for drivers who didn’t slow down or move over in those situations.

Meanwhile, it should be a beautiful Civic Holiday long weekend with Environment Canada calling for mainly sunny skies Saturday  and the temperature feeling around a high of 36.

They say Sunday will see a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 31 and holiday Monday a mix of sun and clouds and a slight chance of showers with the high around 29.
