Loss Of Cap And Trade Costs Stratford Social Housing Projects

Many communities in Ontario, including Stratford, will see millions of dollars allocated for social housing renovation projects disappear, following Doug Fords decision to scrap Ontario’s cap and trade program.

Stratford’s social services department will lose more than $730,000 in provincial funding over the next three years.

This year’s portion of the money was going to be used to replace electric baseboards in a building on Buckingham Drive.

The decision to axe the program, funded through cap and trade, means the project will not go ahead, at least this year.
