City Looking to Sign on New Bus Carrier

The selection process for a bus carrier by the city of Stratford is still ongoing .  The city and the County of Perth recently received a commitment of almost 1. 5 million dollars in provincial funding through the Ministry of Transportation’s Community Transportation Grant Program to establish new public transit for a pilot period of five years, creating an inter-regional transit service connecting London, St. Mary’s, Stratford and Kitchener. Service between Listowel and Kitchener is also planned.  A separate but related Perth County commitment will create a transit system to link the communities of Stratford, St. Marys, Mitchell, Sebringville, Monkton, Atwood, Milverton, Listowel and Millbank.  Co-ordination with other transit systems (e.g. GO Transit, VIA) is a priority consideration.  The new service is still expected to launched in the spring of 2019.
