Progress continues to be made on new Tom Patterson Theatre in Stratford

Progress continues to be made when it comes to the new Tom Patterson Theatre in Stratford.

So far, a number of walls have been poured with the construction of the sanitary sewer expected to begin soon at the site at the corner of Waterloo Street and Lakeside Drive.

The next several months are expected to see footings and walls poured and come the early part of spring officials expect that the structure will begin to rise up.

Stratford Festival General Manager Anita Gaffney says this year’s festival has been unique without shows at the Tom Patterson Theatre.

“For this year the experiment without it has worked very well, we’ve had more performances at the Studio Theatre, we added a show at the Avon, and those have pretty much compensated for the numbers at the Tom Patterson.”

The festival is holding a ceremonial tree planting this Thursday at the site of the new Tom Patterson Theatre starting at noon.
