The MPP for Perth-Wellington is calling for action to help avoid another deadly collision at the Russeldale corner.
Following a three-vehicle crash over the weekend that saw six people taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and another collision a month earlier that claimed the life of a motorcyclist, Randy Pettapiece is calling on Ontario Minister of Transportation John Yakabuski to look at all options to improve safety at the Perth Line 20 and Perth Road 164 intersection, including a potential round-a-bout.
Pettapiece wrote a letter to the MTO calling the intersection “deadly” and adding that it’s “another summer weekend, another crash at the Russeldale corner.”
He says action needs to be taken to address the concerns.
“That road is very well traveled, especially in the summertime, we need to do all we can to help prevent these crashes and loss of life.”
Since 2011, there have been over 13 collisions at the intersection and, not including this year, two of the crashes resulted in death, six in injuries and five in property damage.
