Council passes motion for 40/60 funding of Matilda Street improvement

Matilda Street residents are getting a break on the cost for road and storm sewer work.

Usually local improvement projects are paid for with a 60/40 split, with residents in the area paying the bigger portion.

At last night’s Stratford City Council meeting a motion passed to flip that so Matilda Street residents pay the smaller portion.

Homeowners in the area had protested the 60/40 split.

A group had previously argued to council that the road is high volume as it leads to the SERC (Stratford Education and Recreation Complex) Site and that they shouldn’t be responsible for the damage that volume causes.
