It’s a milestone for autonomous vehicles in this country.
An autonomous vehicle has driven 100 kilometres on public roads, according to a University of Waterloo research team who has spent the last two years working on the project.
The team of sixty says they put thousands of hours of effort into the project and the vehicle was a Lincoln MXZ.
Researchers and engineers comprised the group and they developed and installed the self-driving software that allowed the vehicle to drive without an actual driver.
Stratford is home to an Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network, a demonstration zone for autonomous vehicles.
