New bus routes expected to be in place for Stratford Transit later this fall

Stratford says it continues to prepare for the rollout of new bus routes for its city transit system.

The rollout is expected to take place later this fall and the city says new or relocated bus stops have been added at various locations and signs have been installed.

The installation of nine new bus shelters is also expected to start shortly and should be completed in the coming weeks.

The new shelters will be installed at:

1. Sobey’s (on O’Loane)

2. No Frills/medical building (on O’Loane)

3. Festival Marketplace Mall (entrance off CH Meier)

4. Army/Navy (on Lorne)

5. Local Community Food Centre (on Erie)

6. McCarthy Road (Across from McCarthy Place Retirement Residence)

7. Medical Centre (on Douro Street)

8. New housing complex (Britannia Street at former Fairgrounds)

9. Oxford Street (between Romeo and Burritt)

The city adds that work on the new Downie Street bus terminal is progressing and the first phase should be finished and operational by the end of the year.

They say the second phase will be completed next year.
